Purple Jumper with Shawl Collar

A jumper I made with Spotlight branded 100% wool. Kimmy chose the colour, its quite nice! The pattern is a Panda pattern from 11 Handknits for Kids, Jumper with Shawl Collar and Raglan Set in Sleeves.

It was pretty easy/boring for the most part, just plain stocking stitch throughout. The rib is K2 P2. The shawl collar kept things interesting, it was a little fiddly but nothing major.

I made size 4 - there was only a pattern for size 2, 4, 6, etc... But she really is a size 3 so its a tad big, but wearable. She will still be wearing it next year I think.

Very happy with it!

  1. The sweater looks great. I love using that yarn too, although my kids think it is a touch itchy so we put skivvies underneath or long sleeved t's. The color looks so pretty on your little girl.

  3. Hi Sue,
My name is Angela and my Mum is making that same jumper for my 3 year old daughter. She's having real trouble with the collar and I can't figure out from the pattern what to do. The problem is at the last part of the knitting up of stitches "along straight edge of left centre front neck". Do you have any tips that might enable one of us to finish it?
    Many thanks,
    Angela
    PS Ravelry name is 'Yarnstorming'

  4. Hi Angela,
Well I used a circular needle to go up the right hand side knitting up stitches, then along the back knitting the stitches on the stitch holder, then I knit up the stitches going down the left hand side. You don't knit up any stitches along the bottom part, you sew it down at the end. So you don't go round and round you go back and forth. Does that help at all?? Sorry if i'm not explaining well...!!! Let me know if you have more Q's!

  5. Hi Nicole,
Thanks for that (and sorry about calling you Sue - I got you confused with one of your commentators!). I'll go back to the work and give it a go and let you know how I get on.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond.
    Warm regards,
    Angela
